Pueblo Bello, Cesar
Ethnic groups
Koguis,Arhuacos & Wayuu
Kogui Tribe
This tribe is located close to the city of Santa Marta. This tribe has not been reached with the gospel and has an estimated population of 7 thousand people. There are only six Christians in this tribe that we know of. Two of the six Christians have graduated from our Bible Institute: Javier Gil and Vicente Dingula. Like all tribes, they are divided into many different smaller communities. Most communities have not yet heard the gospel or have no Christians at all.
Continuing Crisalinco's Vision 15-500
KOGUI TESTIMONY: Javier shared with us how difficult it is to bring the gospel to his community. Those who become Christians lose all privileges, including: government subsidies, health, education and the worst is that they are being punished with whips or sticks made for this form of punishment. They are told that they must accept their gods, and if they refuse to deny Jesus they are purged from their community, this is very difficult because there their family and livelihood are within the community.
At this moment we should pray for Vicente Gil, as he is being held in the community prison with little food and water and is under punishment by whipping until he renounces his belief in Jesus Christ. He has been in this prison for two months and he says he would rather die there than to deny his faith in Jesus. Despite the opposition from this tribe Javier and Vicente (along with their four Timothys) have made a goal to establish 10 churches by 2015.
Arhuacos Tribe
This tribe is located close to the city of Valledupar. It has a population of about 9 thousand people. They Christians suffer the same as in the Koguis tribe. The only outside belief that has entered the tribe is from a religious sect. Thank God for Diego Gonzales who graduated this year from Crisalincos Bible Institute. He is the first Arhuaco we have graduated thus far. He already has a group of 6 Timothys with that goal of establishing 10 churches by 2015. Please pray for the churches to be established. Also, pray for Fredy Izquierdo who has already translated the book of Genesis into the Arhuaco language. Pray that the translation can continue despite much opposition. He translates hidden from the tribe because they say that no one should translate their language. Also, pray that we can buy a property in Pueblo Bello to build a training center for the 7 tribes that are in this region.

Wayuu Tribe
They live in the Guajira Peninsula. There are approximately 120 thousand people. The churches are very well organized. The leadership we have in La Guajira is willing to establish 30 churches by 2015. They are also creating alliances with the Bible Society in Colombia to translate the Old Testament, since they already have the New Testament.
